Kerry gave a very incisive critique of the Bush fixation on Iraq on Meet the Press in the summer of 2002. His argument was clearly stated and compelling, namely that we should focus on al-Qaeda rather than dissipating our resources and our focus by casting for other enemies. Then, weeks later, he voted to support going to war. There is no question that his vote contradicted the argument he offered in the summer. The NYT puts it editorial finger on the Kerry inconsistency in a lead editorial.
