L'Orient Le Jour reports total victory for the oppositon in the last round of elections

The question now is not whether the opposition can command a majority in the assembly, but whether they can put together the two-thirds vote necessary to send President Emile Lahoud into forced retirnement. L'Orient Le Jour
Meantime, the former PM Omar Karami threatens to work to replace the (Sunni) Mufit of the Republic. This stems from the Mufti's "campaign appearance" in Tripoli on behalf of the opposition.
