Observer | Polarised and afraid, Christians are braced for a new Lebanon conflict
Many young Lebanese have yearned for the return of Gen. Michel 'Aun, but as this report reveals 'Aun skill is in dividing not uniting. He has displayed woefully poor strategic judgment in the past, and there is no reason to think he has learned from his manifest errors.
One rumor is that Pres. Emile Lahoud embraced the idea of the Bonapartist returning because he anticipated the divisive results. That may give Lahoud too much credit but it is easy to see why the rumor resonates among some Lebanese.
