The Journal is now, not surprisingly, coming to the defense of Karl Rove who it argues is not just being wrongly accused for his role in outing Valerie Plame, but should actually be given a prize for this role in outing Joe Wilson. Wilson, the Journal insists, was recommended for his Africa mission by his wife, Ms. Plame, and his dismissal of the Niger uranium deal was unwarranted. Of course, the editors strangely seem to ignore that the issue is not whether Wilson was recommended, mentioned, complimented by his wife, but whether his wife's status as an undercover agent was unlawfully revealed (for spite and political revenge). The Journal editorial will hearten the Bushies, but this problem will not so easily disappear, anymore than a "mission accomplished" banner established victory in Iraq.
