Frist endorses faith-based instruction

The Senate majority is a medical doctor, presumably with some knowledge of science, but he has now come out in favor of teaching "intelligent design" alongside of evolution. The U.S. is already lagging behind much of the world in terms of students' knowledge of science and math. Now Dr. Frist--who offered a long distance diagnosis of Terry Schiavo a few months ago--would like to make room in the curriculum for instruction that belongs in Sunday school.
Frist weighs in on origins-of-life curriculum - Saturday, 08/20/05: "'I think today a pluralistic society should have access to a broad range of fact, of science, including faith,' he said. 'I think having kids exposed to both doesn't force any particular theory on anyone. I think in a pluralistic society that is the fairest way to go about education and training people for the future.'"
