Inside Baseball

"Inside baseball" refers to technical discussions that might be interesting to cognoscenti but may strike the non-specialist reader as too trivial (I know that you know that, but I am explaining to the other guy, ok?). Some of the Froomkin's long columns of that ilk, offering lots of gossipy tidbits about inside-the-beltway players, but his January 29, 2007 is fascinating and deserves to be read. He offers timely insights about the mood in Washington, the over-the-top antics of the VP, and the ineffectual Bush presidency. I fear that the U.S. has a long two years ahead of it. There are real dangers that despite the administration's manifest incompetence, and perhaps as a result of his dreadful lack of respect, President Bush will embark on a new and dangerous adventure.
