Peace process? Hardly.

Rice's "initiative" is far too tentative, far too susceptible to sabotage (including from within the Bush administration) and far too late, but it is nice to hope that something will come of it. Let's be clear that meeting with Salam Fayyad, the respected finance minister, and Ziad AbuAmr, a solid and impressive independent politician who wrote a book about Palestinian Islamists (and is not one himself), is hardly a politically courageous venture for Rice.
