"Fritz" Mondale reflects on the role of the Vice President

Walter F. Mondale's essay is a timely reminder that the role of an empowered VP is to serve the agenda of the President, rather than pursuing one's own. I enjoyed the privilege of spending a few days with the wise Minnesota politician a couple of months ago in Europe. There is not an ounce of pretension in this engaging veteran of the Senate and the White House, but he has weighty insights to share.
