Lebanese Christians--the new fulcrum of politics
This is an extended report (in French) by the Crisis Group on Lebanon's Christians and their politics and goals. A summary in English is available. As the report rightly notes, the Lebanese Christians have the potential of balancing the two main poles of power: Hezbollah and the Shi'a vs. the Future Movement and a big slice of the Sunni community. This is a valuable piece of analysis, but it does understate the variety of contending players in the Christian community. More on this later...
