The quixotic Abie Nathan offered a vision of peace to Arabs and Israelis, and, as I was well remember, his "Voice of Peace" pirate radio from "somewhere in the Mediterranean" provided rock music in the service of peace. He was also willing to pay the price of breaking taboos, including at least one stint in an Israeli prison. He made a difference, well beyond his beloved Tel Aviv diner.
Abie Nathan, 81; Israeli activist founded 'Voice of Peace' radio - The Boston Globe
