Not trivial schoolyard taunts: Inciting Hatred as campaign strategy

The petulent John McCain is obviously angry that his campaign for the presidency is going south, and that he is losing to "that one". He, and his transparently unqualified running mate are provoking and promoting hatred in their efforts to tear down and delegitimize Barack Obama. As M.J. Rosenberg reminds us, incitement of this sort may stoke the flames of violent and murderous extremism. Also follow the link in his piece to 2000 statement of Leah Rabin, the widow of Yitzhak Rabin, the Prime Minister of Israel who was assassinated in 1995 by an Israeli anti-peace fanatic.
