The NY Times reports on U.S. citizens adopting Israeli citizenship and becoming recruits in the Israeli army. As the piece suggests, this is a very well-funded program, but I was struck by how uninquisitive the piece seemed to be.
A number of readers have referred to my 2006 entry Americans Serving in the Israeli Army--What is their status in U.S. law? Several of the comments are particularly noteworthy.
If readers have any comparative data referring to U.S. citizens joining other foreign militaries, I would be grateful.
