Kadim al-Sahir is a famous Iraqi singer who is famous throughout the Arab world. His new video, "al-mustaqbal" (the future), shows a woman running to her boyfriend who has been arrested by soldiers. She runs toward barbed wire barrier and is then cut down by gunfire. The video then shows her in Paradise. The prisoner is then shown running to his fallen lover. He reaches her, only to be cut down, and presumably united with her in Paradise. It is a powerful video and a good sample of how popular culture transmits images of the occuapation in Iraq (but it could be Palestine). If I can find the video, I will post it.
