The settler's theocracy

Haaretz - Israel News: "Unfortunately, the IDF has been - sometimes by turning a blind eye and sometimes indirectly - a partner to many of the mistakes that led to this deterioration. A great deal of proof of this is found in attorney Talia Sasson's report on the illegal outposts, including proof of contravention of the law. In many respects, the IDF lost control over what was happening in the territories. The IDF, the police and the Shin Bet security service ruled over the Arabs but not over the Jews living in the territories.

There is no doubt that the IDF, over time, lost contact with what was happening among the settlers. No better evidence of this exists than the fact that the Defense Ministry was obliged, at high cost, to hire a private aerial service to photograph what was happening on the settlements. In fact, two Jewish states were created and in the second one, actions were taken covertly and no one bothered to give accounts; on one hand, there was the State of Israel and on the other, the Settler State, a second Jewish state, which was to a large extent ruled by extremist rabbis."
